Wing Chun Sil Lim Tao Form
Blue Print of the
Wing Chun Kung Fu System
Sil Lim Tao is your
Master Plan for the Wing Chun Kung Fu System
Wing Chun Sil Lim Tao gives you correct position,
direction of energy for all your movements when using techniques in your Wing Chun system.
It does not matter whether you are using single
hand or double handed techniques, Sil Lim Tao will give you the correct
placement of the hands.
If you are unsure of the hand positions when
applying techniques, all you have to do is find where they are in the Wing Chun Sil Lim Tao and apply them as they are executed
in the form.
This is especially important for beginners when
using central line techniques. Beginners should become very familiar with their
Sil Lim Tao hand positions to enable correct placement of body and hands when
using two arms in technique. The correct positions can be confusing for a
beginners, but having an understanding of the Sil Lim Tao will give them a huge
advantage.
When advanced students are introduced to new forms
such as Chum Kieu and Biu Gee, the correct placement of using two hands with footwork can
also become confusing. Once again a student only has to revert back to the Sil
Lim Tao, find the positions and apply them to the new Wing Chun Form.
This also applies when being introduced to new, two
handed Wing Chun Techniques such as Quan sao, Tan Garn Sao and
Larn Garn Sao. Use your “Alphabet” as a reference for the new techniques which
will enable you to apply the correct body positions.
An architect will always design a draft of a
building, bridge etc, before construction can begin.
The builder will take that blue print and refer to
it through every step of the construction.
The same must apply to a Wing Chun practitioner when applying Wing Chun Techniques. The mind should always think back to the
“Plan”, Sil Lim Tao Form, and use it as a reference to apply correct
positioning and placement of hands for successful application.
